Natalie Holmes To Release 'The Simplest Things' EP

Firstly, let's cement it for those of you who have never heard of Natalie Holmes. If someone threw Ellie Goulding and Joni Mitchell and a few other artists into a pop/folk flavoured cake, iced it with pure honesty, and then sprinkled it with some Lucy Rose... You'd pretty much have Natalie Holmes.

Following her very successful debut album Goodmorning Sleepyhead, Natalie is set to release her brand new EP The Simplest Things on January 13th. Natalie has spent years building her audience on Youtube, and it seems to have paid off. With over 12,000 subscribers, 900,000 hits and almost 3,000 Facebook 'likes', there's no doubt she is ready for her first iTunes release.

Having just supported Lewis Watson on his sold out UK tour in October, Natalie says she is excited to unveil her project to her existing and new fans. Combining forces with producer and musician Matt Hutchison, also known as ortoPilot, Natalie's songs are bound to shine like never before. Natalie admits "I can't wait to hear my songs in a professional, radio-quality context finally. Playing them on guitar and piano is fine, but hopefully the EP is going to bring out things in the songs that simple acoustic versions just can't". I think we can all agree that with the help of Matt's talent and experience, she has nothing to worry about!

Natalie has been writing the songs themselves over the past year, so the EP encapsulates quite a large period of time in her life. The tracks include: 'The Simplest things', 'Birds Eye View', 'Safety Net' and 'Backwards', and consist of themes such as feeling homesick at university and being extremely happy in a relationship. The songs were recorded in Matt's home studio in Manchester, and are currently in his hands being tweaked for release.

Having produced all her own tracks up to now, Natalie says "I admit I love doing everything myself, but I am super excited to be working with a producer this time. Matt is incredible at what he does, and I have an inkling our little team will create something amazing". This could easily be Natalie's most exciting release yet, and it seems as though Matt is equally excited to be working with Natalie and producing the tracks for the EP; he says, "Natalie Holmes has talent that's on another level; her songwriting is outstanding, and playing live...? Mind blowing!"

Keep an eye out on iTunes for the 13th of January! Or, if you're an Apple enemy, physical copies will be available from a couple of weeks after the release date on Natalie's Bandcamp page. After years of hard work and patience, Natalie deserves her break in 2013, and this EP may just be the start of an incredibly successful year for her.
